Priorities
Protect what matters. Strengthen what comes next.
Catholic education is worth protecting, but protecting it also means making thoughtful decisions about the future of our schools.
Jonathan’s priorities are grounded in three simple commitments: preserving the distinct values of Catholic education, strengthening local schools, and making sure students and families have a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect them.
01. Protect What Makes Catholic Education Distinct
Catholic schools play a unique role in our communities. They bring together academic excellence, faith formation, service and a strong partnership between families, schools and parishes.
Jonathan believes those foundations should be protected and strengthened.
That means supporting decisions that preserve the Catholic identity of our schools, respecting the role of faith in education and ensuring that our students continue to learn in environments grounded in compassion, responsibility and community.
Jonathan’s commitment:
Protect the values and traditions that make Catholic education distinct while ensuring they remain meaningful to the next generation.
02. Build Strong, Sustainable Local Schools
Ward 9’s Catholic schools are not all facing the same realities.
Some schools are growing. Others are experiencing declining enrolment, changing neighbourhoods or pressures that require difficult long-term decisions.
Jonathan believes trustees should understand those differences before making decisions that affect students, staff and communities.
Strong stewardship means asking the right questions, understanding the data and making responsible choices that protect both the quality and long-term sustainability of Catholic education.
Jonathan’s commitment:
Make decisions based on facts, long-term thinking and the needs of each school community, not one-size-fits-all solutions.
03. Make Families Part of the Conversation
The people closest to our schools often understand their challenges best.
Parents, students, educators, parish communities and local leaders should know how to reach their trustee and feel confident that their concerns are being heard.
Jonathan wants to be a visible and accessible trustee who spends time in the communities he represents, communicates clearly and keeps families informed about the decisions being made on their behalf.
Jonathan’s commitment:
Show up, listen carefully, communicate openly and bring the voices of Ward 9 to the Board table.
